Best Scifi/Fantasy Series

Is it fair to lump in science fiction and fantasy together into one massive category of unlikely happenings?

Maybe not.

After all, at it's most pure, science fiction is the domain of brainy theoreticians and programming visionaries, while your average fantasy genre offering is starting to look like a harlequin novel with fangs thrown in for the sake of kinkier sex scenes.

SciFi deals with what may one day be possible, while fantasy deals with what will never be possible.

Nevertheless, they get thrown in by awards programs for various reasons. It's a way to bulk up the number of competitors from two skimpy fields. And they both have similar themes-- using creatively imagined backdrops to explore the human condition. And besides, award execs can't tell the difference between scifi geeks and fantasy nerds (hint: one has posters of half-naked cyborg women with impossibly large breasts, while the other has posters of half-naked sorceresses with impossibly large breasts).
